Effect of annealing temperature on Microstructure and properties of TA6 alloy sheet

 TA6 (Ti-5Al) titanium alloy is a titanium alloy, due to its good weldability, corrosion resistance, with moderate intensity and good plasticity in the annealed state, plate cold stamping, suitable for work at 400 DEG C and etching media environment, mostly used for high temperature structure Department of aviation and missile components of skin, conventional weapons and equipment parts. With the increase of the demand for titanium in China, the amount of the alloy sheet will be increased. But because the TA6 alloy sheet processing plasticity is poor, the processing temperature window is narrow, and is particularly sensitive to the processing temperature, so the processing is easy to crack or severe wave, processing difficulty, currently only a few domestic manufacturers can produce TA6 alloy and its microstructure and properties is not publicly reported. The researchers obtained TA6 alloy plate with specific rolling process as the research object, analysis of the effect of annealing temperature on Microstructure and mechanical properties, so as to provide reference for the heat treatment of TA6 alloy sheet and further industrial application.

The test of TA6 titanium alloy material with 1 titanium sponge, a certain proportion of the aluminium beans and nails, by vacuum consumable arc furnace smelting 3 prepared with 640mm diameter, single 3T ingot. Ingot by 2500t fast forging press forging into 200mm * 1050mm * 1200mm slab. Slab hot rolling billet using 2800mm four roll reversing mill, rolling thickness of 3.5 ~ 4.0mm, after intermediate annealing and surface treatment, in the 1780mm six roller reversing cold mill rolling into 3.0mm thick cold rolled sheet. The cold rolled TA6 alloy plate was annealed in a vacuum heat treatment furnace and heated to 650, 700, 720, 750, 780, 800, 830, and, respectively. On the annealed sheet, tensile test was carried out on the MST electronic tensile machine. The maximum bending angle was tested on the plate bending machine, and the microstructure was observed under the optical microscope. Test results are as follows:
(1) TA6 alloy plate at 650 DEG C during annealing, the material in the recovery phase, microstructure and mechanical properties of little change in bending performance of the worst; annealing at 700 DEG C, the material has begun to recrystallization, the strength decreases, elongation and bending angle increase; 720 to 800 DEG C during annealing, the material has been completely recrystallization, the mechanical property of the sheet is basically stable, the bending angle of 780 ~ 800 DEG C to 80 DEG, 830 DEG C; during annealing, the recrystallization grain has thick material, the rapid decline of bending properties and mechanical properties.
(2) in the range of 750 to 800 degrees C, TA6 alloy plate is uniform completely recrystallization microstructure, mechanical properties and bending properties match the best, this temperature range of TA6 alloy plate reasonable annealing temperature range.
